Today was the first time this year that I was able to get some proper flying in and it was good fun to be able to get out there and fly out there.
This was more of a trial for later in the year I think where I hope to be trying to get a lot more footage of the Trains travelling along the route between Alresford and Alton.
There are a couple of events that will make it easier to get footage as the line will be busier than normal. For example, I would like to be there for the Diesel Gala and the steam Gala. The only thing that might be problematic will be that it will likely be much busier than normal and there are likely to be more drones in the air.
Book Early will be the key!
There were some interesting points to remember for when this takes place later. In the location I was at today, there was a black spot in the field to the right of the bridge where, getting low down cause me to loose signal.
This picture (actually a screenshot) was taken from the first video of the train today, the second flight wasn’t as successful because of the black spot.
I have to say. The moody sky, the high contrast and the pure white steam makes a really nice picture I feel. I sit looking at this thinking about how I can improve.
1. The light in the shot is coming from almost behind the drone in this shot. I wonder if there might be a better angle, and what the time of day might do to the shots.
2. The background land is quite plain I wonder if there are other locations with better background.
3. If there are any other setups that I need to think about.
